"Life is a game, and we are just trying to win..."
In a world where wealth is success, one man find himself thrust through life by his blind efforts to keep his family in the life they have grown accustomed to. But at what cost? When he meets another who invites him to a game of chess, he finds the true meaning of existence. The choices are made abundantly clear. When the game of life becomes visible, who will win?
The man?
Or the ultimate opponent?

The Darkness Calls I: To Hell and Back
***The Darkness Calls Book I: To Hell and Back***
Nic never claimed to be a normal girl, but this was ridiculous. As the next White Witch to face the ceremony where a path is chosen, she had a lot on her mind. Nightmares of darkness swirled through her mind all while facing the creatures of the Otherworld. With the Darkness calling what will she choose?
Alec has one job: to protect his sister. With his training as a Black Dog, this should be an easy task. Right? When Mardi Gras rolls around, and his sister’s nightmares of the Darkness begin to become reality, what risks will he be willing to take?

If I could fly
So way up high
Above the clouds
And touch the sky
I'd spread my wings
A song I'd sing
And fly above
The awful things
I'd laugh out loud
Mom, you'd be so proud
Make my home
On a fluffy cloud
Be no more tears
Nothing of fear
As long as I
Was flying here
Sit by the gate
For you I'd wait
Visiting hours
That never close late
We'd hug and sigh
Not tears in our eyes
We'd never have to
Say goodbye....
... If I could fly.
In the time when the grass was tall and the winds were warm across the planet, with no trouble of pollution or humanity's destructive influence upon the earth, there was a leopardess who gave birth to triplet identical spotted male cubs. She named them Kutembea, Yako, and Njia.
As they grew, those who saw them smiled at them, and spoke of how much they were like their brothers, even confusing them at times.
Kutembea grew tired of hearing how he was so much like his brothers, and wished to be different. When the time came for young cubs to leave their mothers, he left, vowing to be different than what he was now, like his brothers.

It's the little things that you don't realize are there; moments that last only tenths of a second, breaths between heartbeats, that you don't even think about, don't even acknowledge as even existing, that end up being the most moving, the most remembered in hindsight.
It is in these moments that history of a person, of the people around them, of the world around them, are touched, and in that touch, the world is changed forever for them. They are the times that, now that you look back, hold a profound impact upon your mind, sticking out like a flower in the snow, so obvious now that you see it, yet while you were there, it wasn't to be see
I dressed up as Santa
To sit in the mall,
Just for the money
Not feeling Christmasy at all.
I just needed the money
To keep on my lights,
I silently groaned
As I looked at the lines.
Kids all sat and told me
Of what they wanted this year,
But to be honest,
I really didn't hear.
"Ho ho ho," I mustered,
With a lot of fake cheer,
Tired of the kids whining,
Their tugging on my beard.
Hours went on
Would this never end?
I swear I would scream
If I ever had to do this again.
A small little girl
Was next in line,
Great, now what,
Would it be a pony this time?
She climbed into the sleigh
And onto my thigh,
She guestured to c
The scariest sound I've ever heard
Was hearing my heart beating.
The worse pain I've ever felt
Was taking in air to breathe.
The more horrible thing I've ever seen
Was looking back at me in the mirror.
Nothing seems the same anymore,
Nothing will be the same.
For I've done the unthinkable,
The unimaginable.
I survived.
I'm still here.
This isn't Darwin's Theory,
Survival of the Fittest.
This isn't "Survivor" or "Big Brother".
This is reality.
The drama known as Life.
Showing seven days a week,
Twenty-four hours a day.
We're built to survive,
We've learned to strive to win.
But did anyone notice,
If you survive,
You stil
Love is pleasure
Love is pain
Love is sunshine
Love is rain
Love is secure
Love is doubt
Love is a smile
Love is a pout
Love is the worst
Love is the best
Love is life
Love is death.

Shining angel with the peaceful face
Bright smile just to hide the pain
No one knows it's the mask you wear
To hide the fact you think no one cares.

That no one loves angels like you.

People around you smile and laugh
You play along like it's all a show
No one sees it, and nobody knows

I truly hope you read them and enjoy! Leave a review- it helps books and authors get views! Follow my author page, www.facebook.com/MLWissing My website: www.mlwissing.weebly.com
I want to thank everyone who helped me during this journey and provided the stocks for my covers as well! I do my own covers, as well as for other authors, manipulations, and more:
It's been a while since I've posted anything on this DA account, I normally am busy writing or making art for my other account (DJMadameNoir). I have written my largest novel to date, and it's with the publisher now! Their goal is to get it out before Christmas. It is a fantasy, and the first in what I hope to be a sizable series. If all goes right with this new publisher, I may be republishing my other books with them as well!
UtopiaCon 2017 was amazing! I was with author Amber NP Mays and we were signing our books, as well as the book we wrote together, The Darkness Calls Book 1: To Hell and Back. It was a blast!
I got to meet a lot of awesome authors and artists who helped me out and made some great friends and memories.
